COTTON BAGS

Cotton and Canvas Bags

Natural fabric with the strongest brand perception in the range.

Cotton bags

Cotton is the material buyers choose when the bag is part of the brand rather than just a way to carry goods. It feels natural in the hand, it takes screen print cleanly, and customers keep it. That last point matters more than any claim on this page: a reusable bag only beats the single-use alternative if it actually gets reused enough times.

Cotton and canvas are the same fibre at different weights, which is why they sit on one page. Cotton bags run 120 to 280 g/m² and drape softly. Canvas is heavier, around 340 g/m², with enough body that the bag holds its shape and stands up on its own.

All cotton and canvas bags are customizable with your logo, colors, dimensions and handle type.

Natural Cotton Tote
The standard cotton bag. Long handles, open top, unbleached or dyed. The most ordered style in the range and the easiest to print.
Beautiful Canvas Bags
Canvas Tote
The same shape in canvas. Holds its form empty, which is why it photographs well and why retailers put it on the counter rather than under it.
Natural Cotton Boatshape bag
Boat Shape
Wide flat base that stays stable when loaded. Common in grocery and market retail where the bag has to sit open at the checkout.
100% Natural Cotton bag with pouch
Bag with Pouch

Cotton regular stitch bag with pocket
Regular Stitch with Pocket

Cotton bag
Cotton Webbing Handle
Wide woven cotton tape handles instead of self-fabric straps. More comfortable under load and visibly better made.

Zip along the top edge. For when the contents should not be on show.
Cotton or canvas? The weight is what decides.
Cotton · Canvas

If the bag is a retail carrier or a giveaway, cotton at 120 to 280 g/m² is the better economic choice. If it is meant to be kept and used for years, canvas at around 340 g/m² earns the extra cost, because the comparison that matters is cost per use rather than cost per bag.

That argument only works if the bag is genuinely kept. For a one-off event giveaway it does not. Tell us the use case and we will tell you which one we would order.

FAQ’s
What cotton weight should I choose?
Cotton bags run from 120 to 280 g/m². Lighter weights feel thin in the hand and heavier weights move you toward canvas at around 340 g/m², so it is worth pricing both. Always put the weight in writing on the order, because it is the variable that quietly separates two quotes that looked identical. Tell us the use case and we will recommend the weight.
What is the difference between a cotton bag and a canvas bag?
Weight and body. Cotton runs 120 to 280 g/m² and drapes softly. Canvas is heavier cotton at around 340 g/m², stiff enough that the bag stands up on its own and survives more use cycles. Canvas costs more per unit and is the premium end of the natural-fibre range.
How long does production take?
Standard styles: 45-60 days after artwork approval. Custom development: add 2-3 weeks for sample approval before production begins.
Can I see a sample before committing to an order?
Yes. We can send samples of existing styles. A sample fee applies whenever artwork or dimensions change from a previous version. This covers the cost of producing a new sample to your exact spec.
Tell us the weight, size and print you need.
We will come back with pricing within 24 hours.

Bk-bags produces cotton and canvas bags on an OEM basis: the bag is made to the design, style and dimensions you specify, not picked from a fixed catalogue.

Cotton weight is the first number to fix on the order, because it sets both the hand feel and the price. We will tell you the weight we would order for your use case, and we will say so if canvas is not worth the extra cost for what you are doing.

Handles are the second decision. Self-fabric straps are cut from the body of the bag and keep the cost down. Woven cotton webbing handles are wider, sit better on the shoulder under load, and are visibly better made. Both are reinforced at the attachment point.

Screen print is the standard method on cotton and gives clean, solid colour. Heat transfer is used for photographic artwork and fine gradients. We will tell you which method suits your artwork before the order is confirmed, not after.

More questions

Do you supply organic cotton?

Yes, we supply both conventional and organic cotton. If you intend to put an organic claim on the bag or in your marketing, say so at quotation stage rather than after the order is placed. A certified organic claim has to be specified and documented from the yarn upward, and it cannot be added to an order that is already in production.

Which print method should I use on cotton?

Screen print is the standard method on cotton and gives clean, solid colour at the lowest cost per unit. Heat transfer is used for photographic artwork and fine gradients that screen print cannot hold. We will tell you which method suits your artwork before the order is confirmed, not after.

What handle options are available on cotton bags?

Self-fabric straps are cut from the body of the bag and keep the cost down. Cotton webbing handles are wide woven tape, sit better on the shoulder under load, and are visibly better made. Both are reinforced at the attachment point, which is where a cotton bag fails first if it is going to fail.
